Online Safety for Students

The internet offers many opportunities to learn, research, create and communicate. At Harper Green School, we want every student to understand how to use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully.

Whenever you're online, it's important to make safe choices, protect your personal information and know what to do if something doesn't feel right.

Staying Safe Online

To help keep yourself safe:

  • Never share personal information such as your address, phone number, passwords or bank details
  • Think carefully before sharing photos, videos or messages online
  • Use strong passwords and keep them private
  • Be cautious when communicating with people you don't know
  • Remember that not everything you see online is true or trustworthy
  • Report or block anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe

If Something Doesn't Feel Right

If you see something online that worries, upsets or makes you feel unsafe:

  • Stop engaging with the content or person.
  • Block and report the account where appropriate.
  • Speak to a trusted adult as soon as possible.
  • Tell your Form Tutor, Pastoral Year Team or another member of staff.

You should never deal with a problem on your own.
