Community Fund Raising Events - SoS
Community and Fundraising Events
At Harper Green School, we take part in various fundraising events to support our local community. Find out more about some of our recent community fundraising activities below.
Fountain of Peace
Fountain of Peace provides orphaned and abandoned children with a loving Christian home where they receive all the love, care, protection and practical support they need to thrive. Mrs Holmes-Patel, Assistant Headteacher, found out about the charity at church and since then has worked with Harper Green School to raise money to support the orphans and their education. She flew to Uganda to work in the orphanage and support the Harper Green Centre, named after our school by Fountain of Peace in recognition of the support it has received and it officially opened the building in the summer.
Peace Nyangoma Ruharuza, the founder of Fountain of Peace visited our school and our year 8 pupils with their counterparts from all year groups at HGS, and the EAL students were lucky enough to be involved in a seminar about the work taking place for Uganda Children.
Action Aid
Action Aid has launched an emergency appeal following the unprecedented escalation of violence in Gaza and Israel. HGS organised a non-uniform day and fund raising and helped Action Aid with more than £700.
Bolton Hospice
A group of Harper Green Students raised £435 by making and selling cards, bracelets and decorations. Massive well done to them.
Urban Outreach
All year groups showed their community effort when we were collecting stuffing to help Urban Outreach to provide Christmas Hampers across Bolton.
