Mental Health Support Teams

At Harper Green School, we recognise that positive mental health and emotional wellbeing are essential to helping students achieve their full potential. We are committed to creating a supportive environment where students feel safe, listened to and able to access help when they need it.

As part of this commitment, we are proud to work in partnership with Bolton CAMHS Mental Health Support Team (MHST), helping us provide early intervention and strengthen our whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing.

Our Partnership with MHST

The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is an NHS service delivered by Bolton CAMHS that works alongside schools to support the emotional wellbeing of children and young people.

The service provides three core functions:

  • Delivering evidence-based interventions for students experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties
  • Supporting the school's Senior Mental Health Lead to develop and strengthen our whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing
  • Providing advice and guidance to school staff, while working alongside specialist services to help ensure students receive the right support at the right time

MHST is designed to provide early intervention and prevention, helping children and young people access support before difficulties become more significant.

Who Delivers the Support?

The Mental Health Support Team includes:

  • Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs)
  • Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioners (CYWP)
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners
  • Mental Health Practitioners (Senior Clinicians)
  • A Participation Worker

Together, the team works closely with Harper Green staff to strengthen our mental health provision and support the wellbeing of our students.

Working Together to Support Students

Mental health support is part of our wider pastoral approach. Our Year Teams, pastoral staff and safeguarding team work closely with MHST to ensure students receive appropriate support and guidance where needed.

If you have any concerns about your child's emotional wellbeing or mental health, please contact your child's Year Team in the first instance. They will listen to your concerns, discuss the support available and, where appropriate, work with MHST and other services to ensure your child receives the help they need.
