The Maths department works hard to provide a rich and enjoyable experience in mathematics appropriate to the ability, aptitude and perceived needs of the individual pupils. Harper Green has 11 maths classrooms all situated together. All rooms are newly refurbished and have interactive whiteboards and LCD projectors.
Key Stage 3
All pupils have five periods a week. Pupils are grouped in terms of ability. At the end of each term pupils sit a mathematics assessment. Pupils in Year 9 will begin to study for the GCSE in mathematics in the final term.
Key Stage 4
All pupils have four periods a week with some pupils in Year 10 having five periods a week. Pupils are grouped in terms of ability to provide pupils with the best opportunity for success. In Year 10 some pupils are given the opportunity to also study for GCSE Statistics. Pupils are able to sit the linear or modular GCSE from Edexcel.
