Expressive Arts

The Expressive Arts Faculty consists of Music, Art, Drama & Dance. At Harper Green School and Arts College we believe in providing all pupils with opportunities to participate in the Arts.
We have first class facilities, outstanding provision and numerous opportunities for all pupils to develop skills in curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Drama facilities include the Peter Kay Theatre, a purpose built theatre which holds an audience of 155 (fully retractable electronically controlled seating) making this a versatile space for productions, shows and concerts. In addition there are three other Drama studios equipped with sound, lighting and computer projection.
We have a purpose built dance studio featuring a specially laid dance floor and a wall of floor to ceiling mirrors. The studio has sound and projection facilities and a private changing area. In addition to this there are several smaller dance studio spaces within the school.
The Music suite boast facilities which are second to none, situated ideally adjacent to the Drama complex. The recording studio is located directly opposite the Peter Kay Theatre. There are two classrooms fully equipped with Music Technology equipment including an Apple Mac suite, PCs, interactive smart boards, synthesisers, keyboards, electric guitars and drum machines. There are lots of other exciting instruments such as drum kits, guitars, African Drums, tuned and untuned percussion, flutes, saxophones, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, tenor horns, euphoniums, tubas and numerous other instruments for pupils to play.
Our Art facilities are also numerous. We have four fully equipped art studios boasting a wide assortment of
media on offer for students to work with. In addition to this, there is a smaller quiet studio area, a kiln room and a full computer suite for digital art. All art rooms also have their own computers.
Harper Green has a long tradition of producing outstanding dramatic and musical events. All pupils have the opportunity to take part in Dance, Drama & Musical productions including getting involved with scenery, props, sound & lighting.
The school Vocal Band, Jazz Band & Orchestra perform regularly at concerts and events both in school and in the wider community. The Vocal Band has performed in the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and other more local venues such as the Albert Halls and Victoria Hall in Bolton.
