Teaching Enhancement
College Support lesson have continued to be a focal part of the department timetable. The funding of these lessons, in conjunction with subject mentoring, has enabled certain classes and pupils to be targeted in order to maximise success. The focus of the college support lessons is to raise achievement at KS4.
In the Music department the enhanced level of peripatetic music teaching has been maintained and the involvement of musicians from Tubalaté, our International Ensemble in Residence, has continued. It is clear that the introduction of more “modern” peripatetic lessons such as keyboard, percussion, guitar and singing have had a positive impact on the department and many more boys are involved than ever before. This has also impacted on KS3 lessons in which pupils can become involved using their new and developed skills.
The department has tried to cater for the high numbers of peripatetic pupils not just in lessons, but also in the wider range of extra-curricular activities available to all pupils. Please click the link for the current extra-curricular activities at Harper Green.
Our Art Department continues to flourish and produce work of an extremely high standard. Every year the department produces an Art and Design Exhibition from the work of our Year 11 GCSE students. This year the exhibition will be virtually portrayed around school and on the school website.
